So, what is the difference between laptop and netbook? A laptop (a notebook) is the computer was designed to be portable made with a folding screen, a keyboard. A laptop contains a battery for portable and a touch pad instead of a mouse for input.

Mini-laptops (as well Netbook, subnotebook or ultra portables) take these ideas further and creates a new market in handheld computers, smart phones and Personal Digital Assistants. The primaryCharacteristic of these are smaller size and weight, which is quite similar to the average diary, as well as costing less than a standard laptop with prices starting around £ 150, an excellent solution during the credit crunch!

Disney Netpal by ASUS - 8.9-Inch Princess Pink Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life Review

Disney Netpal by ASUS - 8.9-Inch Princess Pink Netbook - 5 Hour Battery Life
This is a cool little netbook for a young kid. My son loves it and I have to make him put it down. I give it a high rating with the exception of the parental controls. Sinces its Windows XP and IE 7 the controls are limited so I am using a trial version of NetNanny.

Other than that I would highly recommend the product but parents need to be a little computer savvy to setup.

Samsung GO N310-13GBK 10.1-Inch Jet Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Review

Samsung GO N310-13GBK 10.1-Inch Jet Black Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life
We purchased this netbook for our VERY WEB-CONNECTED 17-year old daughter after looking at about 20 other similar products specs on the web. With 160 GBytes of storage, it does not win the game in storage capacity (the Gateway notebook has 240 GBytes), but in terms of battery autonomy (6-7 hours of actual usable charge with normal browsing/email activity!), a robust rubberized casing (good for teenagers), a bright screen, decent webcam and great non-compressed keyboard, it is an absolute joy to use for slightly above 0! You just cannot go wrong with the Samsung…

Toshiba Mini NB305-N440BL 10.1-Inch Royal Blue Netbook (8 Hour Battery Life) Review

Toshiba Mini NB305-N440BL 10.1-Inch Royal Blue Netbook (8 Hour Battery Life)
This is the first time I bought a cheap computer in my life. This is my 7th Computer and I could say that this has a good performance for a cheap laptop.
I use this in school and work as a Paramedic and it works fine. It is handy in my job. Also, it is scratch resistant which the first thing that I got attracted it does not have the shiny skin which I hate because I do not like scratches. The speaker is too small for this laptop which I did not like. I also put games in it such as Fate. I haven’t try to put more games in it because this is not a gaming PC. Battery life is good enough to stay longer in school and work.

Gateway LT2032u 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - Over 7 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter) Review

Gateway LT2032u 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - Over 7 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Starter)
I searched for a netbook for about a week and found that I could get a Toshiba netbook at Best Buy for about the same price that had a slightly faster processor but a smaller hard drive. I decided to go with the Gateway because of the 250 GB hard drive instead of the 120 GB. The slight increase in processor speed on the Toshiba just could not offset the Gateways price of 0 out the door with the larger hard drive. I upgraded the memory to the 2 GB max( Crucial 2GB 256Mx64PC2-5300 CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM Laptop Memory )which really makes a difference only for downloading files or watching video. The battery life seems to be about what is advertised, or maybe slightly better. I removed Norton’s and installed freeware for anti-virus and spyware and will probably remove the Microsoft Office suite because I don’t want to pay 0 for it. For as little as I expect to use it I don’t think that it is worth it on this netbook. I really only expect to use it for traveling which will consist of web use and email, and maybe video chat occasionally. It is built very solidly, and has great styling. As another reviewer stated, the battery does add about an inch to the depth over other netbooks, but this is only an issue for finding a sleeve to carry it in to protect it. I found a sleeve at Wal-Mart (also here at amazon.com) by Targus( Targus 10.2-Inch Slipskin-Peel Netbook Case )that looks great and fits perfectly. It comes in burgundy colored trim that matches exactly. It is slightly more here at amazon.com unless you get the blue trimmed one, which is about half the price as Wal-Mart. If you are looking for a full time computer, a netbook is not for you, but if you want mobility at a great price then I highly recommend this Gateway.

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - Up to 8 Hours of Battery Life Review

Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Blue Netbook - Up to 8 Hours of Battery Life
I got this almost a year ago, use it only on my home wireless network, and have had no real problems. A few minor issues were resolved by googling, reading the forums at [...], and just getting reacquainted with my router. From others’ experiences, I guess I’m lucky not to need Samsung support.

You may or may not have heard the term netbook ". They seem all the rage these days in personal computing. So, what are they? Netbooks are the new class of mobile computers offer an alternative to the laptop. Basically, they are a smaller version of the laptop, both run in-form-factor computing resources and ability to compute-intensive applications. They may very well be the next revolution in mobile computing. Computer manufacturers now offer aVersion of the ubiquitous laptop scaled. The alternative they offer is one that is small, thin and cheap. Prices, compared to the price of a regular laptop, and in some cases even cheaper than a cell phone. So this version of a computing platform is scaled for you? Are you prepared on your laptop for a netbook?

Toshiba Mini NB205-N310/BN 10.1-Inch Sable Brown Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life Review

Toshiba Mini NB205-N310/BN 10.1-Inch Sable Brown Netbook - 9 Hour Battery Life
This is an awesome machine with lots of power and style. I can find no downside: even with only 1gb main memory (expandable to two) I can do anything I want with it. Yes, HD video can have playback issues (waiting for the large files to load) but most everything else is spot on.

The keboard is excellent even for larger laptops. If I were to look for caveat it would be the ability to view in indirect sunlight–you can’t do it well. But seeing I’m usually home or Starbucks, that has not been an issue for me. I am a web designer so at times I deal with large files, the netbook handles them well.
